lott-richards asked: Hi Mossless. I know there are a few exceptions in your interviews, but I question the decision to interview artists who are mostly so young. The majority of artists do not come into their own until middle age or beyond. Think mid-40s. It's really hard to care about what a 21-year-old has to say about their 'career'. They don't have careers, no matter how interesting their current work is. Honestly. It's a globally anthropoligical truth that applies to life in general, not just art and photography.

this is actually a really good notion, i’m glad you sent this. you’re totally right - photographers most often don’t really fully flesh out until their later years. their more educated and scholarly work does not emerge until then. but there are two reasons as to why we interview younger photographers, and i will be honest in listing them:

1) exposure

2) established photographers (rightfully so) often don’t care about the internet, and won’t answer our questions.

what that leaves us with is young ‘emerging’ photographers. we do mossless for enjoyment, not profit, and so far i see no reason for anyone to complain. everyone has a valid opinion whether or not it is fully developed. if a photographer attains something really interesting in their work, even in their youth, why not find out more about what they do?

thanks for your curiosity. email me, i’d like to keep the conversation going.
